We are super excited to announce that Mat Pilates is coming to Kapiti Hot Yoga. The 6-week pilates program will start on 17 February and run until 26 March 2025, and consist of two classes per week, Monday and Wednesday 12.15pm.
About Pilates: Mat Pilates is a wonderful compliment to our Hot Yoga Practice, similar to the 26+2 hot yoga sequence, it is a system of exercise and movement created by Joseph Pilates that is designed to increase strength, flexibility, and balance. It integrates breath and movement within proper body mechanics to increase awareness, and use all of the muscles of the body as they were designed. Most of the exercises focus on the pelvis and trunk, utilizing both stability and mobility to train the body. It can be practiced on a Mat using your own body and sometimes small props, or on specialized Pilates Apparatus or Pilates machines (the Pilates Reformer is the most common). Part of the beauty of the method is that it can be modified to fit the needs and abilities of each individual practitioner.
Meet your Instructor: Led by Sarah Bishop, Sarah has been instructing and managing in the group fitness and pilates industry for over 30 years. Classically trained in Pilates, Sarah emphases on teaching the 6 pilates principles and connection and technique. Having practiced Sarah’s classes on and off for years now, Sarah always brings a smile, some joy and a lovely flow to her classes and is endlessly passionate about human movement and using pilates to future proof our bodies .

MAR | Hot Yoga Through a Somatic Lens
Who Should Attend: Anyone wishing to bring a deeper awareness to their 26+2 hot yoga practice. When: Saturday 8 March, 1-4pm Investment: $89 p/erson |
Kapiti Hot Yoga, is thrilled to be hosting Travelling Teacher Danielle Darcy in this 3-hour workshop, which will deep dive into the foundations of 26+2 Hot Yoga, the lineage, the essence, the energetics, the politics, the science and the psychology.
Weaving 10 years of experience teaching hot yoga and embodied meditation with somatic therapy and group facilitation, Danielle will explore what it is to practise yoga from a place of embodied presence. Presence with all that is. What happens when we arrive on our mats with nothing but curiosity - no goals or outcomes other than to land.
Covering breath awareness, somatic assessment, compassionate enquiry and embodied boundaries, Danielle will look at hot yoga as a practise that supports a greater capacity for intensity - which equates to a greater capacity for holding the full spectrum of life. How this practise can help you open to life, and transform your life - mentally, emotionally, physically and physiologically.
Everything we cover in this workshop is transferable - you will learn tools that you can use in other classes, at the gym, at work and at home. Tools that will help you better understand your self, your habits, patterns and loops. That will inevitably support you to be a better human - treating your body, this earth and the humans around you with more tenderness.
If you have been practising hot yoga for a while this might be a beautiful opportunity to understand what has drawn you to this particular style of yoga and bring a deeper awareness to the ways it has been subtly shifting how you move in the world.
